The Social Security Trustees released the annual report on the financial status of the Social Security Trust Funds.
The report concluded that the reserves of the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance and Disability Insurance (OASI and DI) Trust Funds will be depleted in 2034-- one year earlier than last year's report. At that time, only 80% of benefits would be payable going forward.
While this report is concerning, this topic is very important to voters.
It is unlikely that Congress will sit idle until this deadline occurs. IBI will continue to monitor any legislative updates.
